The 2010 Birmingham Nationals concluded at White Oaks Resort & Spa in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario on Sunday with two familiar names taking home the titles. Lee Carter (Winnipeg) and Sarah Hunter (White Rock, British Columbia) won the men’s and quad division championships respectively, each adding to their already impressive number of national trophies.

Hunter and Dieleman Capture Birmingham Nationals Quad Doubles Title

It was a busy day at the Birmingham National Wheelchair Championships as the men’s singles semifinals were being played, along with the men’s doubles semifinals and the quad doubles final. Sarah Hunter (British Columbia) and Adrian Dieleman took the quad doubles title as they defeated Gary Luker (Ontario) and Bert Blokker (Ontario) 6-2, 6-0. Hunter will also compete in the quad singles final on Sunday and will look to capture her ninth quad division national title. Lee Carter (Manitoba) will compete in the men’s singles final as he defeated Philippe Bedard (Quebec) 6-1, 6-0.
