Tennis Canada announced Thursday that Toronto-native Daniel Nestor has been named the 2010 Most Outstanding Male Player. The 38-year-old doubles veteran enjoyed another exceptional tennis season that included a Grand Slam title, six ATP World Tour championships and a year-end individual doubles ranking of No. 3 in the world.

Daniel Nestor continued his role as Miele League Challenge ambassador on Wednesday as he gave the Miele League Challenge contest grand prize winner a two hour on-court session. Christine Lindsay from Vancouver was this year’s grand prize winner and she, along with two of her friends received a doubles practice with Nestor at the Centre of Excellence at the Rexall Centre on the York University Campus.

Special Olympics Tennis Program Running in St. Thomas, Ontario

The only known Special Olympics tennis program in Canada was established in 2008 and is run in St. Thomas, Ontario. The growing program includes 12 players from the beginner to intermediate levels and is coached by John Liang, Mike Wood and Brent Sifton.
