Bulldog: A Final Day to Remember

After nine years of running around the court with heavy feet and a weird facial expression, I have finally worked my last match as a ballboy at the Rogers Cup. I was lucky enough to work the net for the first set of Serena’s win against Sam Stosur yesterday. From a ballcrew perspective, it was as close to a perfect set as we could have hoped to put together. All the credit goes to the rest of my team who put on an amazing performance that befit the occasion.

Bulldog: Attack of the Wasps on Centre Court

It was early afternoon yesterday on Centre Court during the final changeover of the match between Andrea Petkovic and Petra Kvitova. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a wasp attacked Andrea and frightened her. Trying to act chivalrous, I jumped at the wasp and tried to kill it with my bare hands. After deciding that my hands were not the best weapon of choice, I grabbed a towel and chased the wasp as it flew around Centre Court. In the end, I was unsuccessful in my chase but after the match Andrea thanked me on Sportsnet!

Bulldog: The Rain Starts and the Fun Starts

I’m writing this entry in the famous Ballcrew “Jive” where the Clijsters-Zheng match is on TV. Once anyone has been a ballkid, it is impossible to watch a match without focusing on the ballkids and their performance.  This crew is doing pretty well in primetime, so everyone in here is happy. I worked the net last night for the Jankovic-Georges match and nothing compares to the atmosphere of the night session under the lights (Georges is definitely a player to watch, by the way).

Bulldog's Blog

Hey everyone,

I’m Bulldog and I’m back this year to blog about my life as a ballkid at Rogers Cup presented by National Bank. With the tournament only days away, I thought I’d check in with my pre-tournament thoughts. This will be my ninth year as a member of the world’s best Ballcrew and the excitement leading up to the tournament never diminishes. It is definitely the highlight of my summer and I can’t wait to share my week with everyone.
